Prisma Health leasing space from Colonial Life
COLUMBIA, S.C. (Jan. 23, 2019) — Prisma Health and Colonial Life have long been close community neighbors. Now the two leading area employers are becoming close physical neighbors as well.
Prisma Health — the new brand identity of Palmetto Health and Greenville Health System — is relocating about 800 of its team members by 2020 to newly renovated space on Colonial Life’s campus on Colonial Life Boulevard, off Interstate 126 and near the intersection of I-26 and I-20.
Although the employee population in Colonial Life’s headquarters has increased to support strong growth over the past few years, the company has excess space on the property, which includes more than 500,000 square feet in multiple buildings. A recent multimillion-dollar renovation featuring flexible work areas allowed the company to locate employees in more collaborative work groups, creating additional unused area. Prisma Health is leasing some of that excess space for team members in corporate support services roles. Patients will not receive services at this location.
Prisma Health and Colonial Life employees are sharing some facilities in the building, including a full-service cafeteria, quick-service coffee and snack café, state-of-the-art fitness center and conference rooms. While the two brands are becoming close neighbors, they remain completely independent companies.
“This arrangement offers many advantages to both our business and Prisma Health,” said Colonial Life President and CEO Tim Arnold. “Inviting other businesses to our offices brings energy to our campus that mirrors the vibrant nature of our city. It allows us to be more efficient with our resources while partnering with one of the area’s premier employers.”
Prisma Health-Midlands President John Singerling added: “We are pleased to collaborate with another major, long-standing community employer, Colonial Life, to provide our team members with a newly renovated office space. This innovative arrangement gives Prisma Health operating efficiencies that will yield long-term cost savings.”
